Roadmap for IT Governance

Based on feedback and lessons learned from other institutions, KU IT is planning to implement IT Governance and Service Experience Councils in phases, introducing new functions of the framework over time. IT Governance also continues to evolve. Best practice shows regular review intervals and adjustments to the structure are necessary to align with new strategies, and new functionality within the framework. Below is a general roadmap of implementation, which will be updated as we progress on the implementation (Updated November 2021).

Spring 2021 (Completed)

• Closer partnership with KU Procurement on tracking IT Project requests from campus
• Develop first Service Councils for core IT Services

Summer 2021 (Completed)

• Begin monthly meetings for Administrative & Business Service Council
• Begin development of additional Service Councils for remaining core IT Services

Fall 2021 (In progress)

• Finalize charter and membership for the IT Infrastructure Service Council
• Review and update internal IT project and funding request process for IT services

Winter 2021 / 2022 (Planned)

• Begin monthly meetings for IT Infrastructure Service Council
• Begin development of additional Service Councils
• Finalize charter and membership for the IT Strategic Council
• Expand collaboration with campus partners

Spring 2022 (Planned)

• Launch remaining Service Councils
• Launch IT Strategic Council
