KITO Reporting

The State of Kansas requires major IT projects to be reported through the KITO (Kansas Information Technology Office). KITO provides project management oversight and approval for IT project plans which must be submitted for all IT projects with an estimated cumulative cost of $250,000 or more. The current criteria for reporting, in effect since 2000, has been under review since 2019. KU Information Technology coordinates the submission of KITO paperwork for all IT projects at KU. Please contact KU IT for more information or assistance. Please be aware this process of data collection and submission can take four-to-six weeks to compile and complete, so early collaboration is recommended.

The KITO reporting and review process applies to all departments and units at the University of Kansas, and is not specific to KU IT. This is mandatory reporting, based on State of Kansas government statutes.

For more information on what is required for KITO submission of IT Projects over $250,000, please see the KITO website, or contact KU IT for assistance.

As of October 2021, the State of Kansas is developing processes for Project Submission using ServiceNow. We will continue to post updates as changes are proposed and put into effect.
